Louise Erdrich
My sister has given me some amazing presents over the years and this birthday was no different. She knows that Louise Erdrich is my all time favorite author. I was completely surprised when my sister gave me this autographed copy of Louise's newest book. Now I need a weekend to sit down and read it. I always carry a book in my bag, but there is now way I will subject this first edition to wear and tear of my daily travels.
My sister called me out of the blue a few days before my birthday saying we had to hang out that night. I, unfortunately, had plans I couldn't cancel. Little did I know the outing was to see Louise at Powell's. Had I known, I might have figured out a way to postpone my plans.
A few years ago, my sister did take me out to Jake's for my birthday. I opened my present which was this book by my second favorite author of all time.
My sister announced that after dinner we would walk over to Powell's to hear Gloria Naylor speak. What a perfect night!
Lastly, my sister gave me this book for Christmas several years ago. All of my autographed books have come from her. These are such thoughtful gifts. It shows she really knows me and works hard to hunt these things down. I really appreciate her efforts.
If you are looking for a good read this summer, you can't go wrong with any books by these two incredible authors. I highly suggest starting with Louise Erdrich's Love Medicine and Gloria Naylor's Women of Brewster Place.
I recommend the same selections for those who are new to these authors! Having books signed makes them extra special! Very thoughtful gifts indeed!
